RockstarGames recently introduced DLSS to Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC, while it in most cases drastically improves FPS, it introduces heavy ghosting and artifacting, even on quality mode.

Red Dead Redemption 2 uses DLSS 2.2.10, after some testing it appears that DLSS 2.2.6 delivers the same performance as DLSS 2.2.10 but with less ghosting and artifacting, here is how to fix it.

Step 1: Getting the DLSS 2.2.6 file.

You can get the DLSS 2.2.6 file from 3 places;

  1. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege (recommended).
  2. Techpowerup
  3. From this website.

If you want to get the file from Rainbow Six Siege (which is the most safest option), go to your Rainbow Six Siege directory;

If you use steam, go to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, click on the gear icon, manage and then on browse local files, you are looking for a file called: “nvngx_dlss.dll”.

Copy this file and store it somewhere like your documents or downloads folder.

If you downloaded the DLSS 2.2.6 file from Techpowerup or from here, save it somewhere like your documents or downloads folder.

Step 2: Deleting the DLSS 2.2.10 file.

Go to your Red Dead Redemption 2 directory, if you use steam, go to Red Dead Redemption 2, click on the gear icon, manage, and then browse local files.

Look for a file called: “nvngx_dlss.dll”, and delete it.

Step 3: Installing the DLSS 2.2.6 file.

Go back to where you stored your DLSS 2.2.6 file and copy it.

Go back to your Red Dead Redemption 2 directory and paste it.

Step 4: Launch Red Dead Redemption 2.

If you now launch Red Dead Redemption 2 with DLSS on, you should now see less ghosting and artifacting, especially when you use DLSS on quality mode.
